However, a similar job that will go in the opposite direction is journalism.
Not investigative journalism, which, like copywriting, requires getting close to the source, digging through information, and making some bets.
But the type of journalism which is just re-writing news from different sources for serving content in between ads.
2023 was a brutal year for the journalism industry, with at least 8,000 job cuts in the UK, US and Canada, according to Press Gazette’s analysis.
As of 27 September, Press Gazette estimates there have been at least 2,500 jobs cut in the UK and US media this year so far.
So if you want to be a writer, be either a great investigative gonzo journalist or a copywriter.
