Let's not Team up, Microsoft

Just like there comes a time in a person’s life when they get a pair of Birkenstocks. Or a minivan.

There also comes a time when they need to use Microsoft Teams.

And let me tell you. It’s worse than all of the aforementioned.

It’s just infuriating.

For a month or so, I’ve had to use Microsoft Teams.

And for whatever reason, it refuses to open. It says it needs an update.

But clicking the “update” button doesn’t actually update it. It throws you on a Microsoft website to download the installer.

Yeah, that’s how updates still take place in Microsoft land.

In-app automatic updates – outrageous. Once I download the installer and run it – boom, it works. Until I restart the computer. Then we dance again.

By looking at my downloads folder, you might think I’m an avid collector of Teams installers.

Because I have 17 as of tuem. (Ah, exes – who wouldn’t love them.)

But what’s funny is that the actual user experience when I get to use the product is decent…

Way better than Discord, I must say. Or maybe it’s that phase speaking…

Microsoft knows they can slack off

Also imo, Microsoft enterprise solutions are way-way worse than what you get when you go a la carte as a consumer.

They know you can’t do anything about it.

They just need to sell to big ass institutions who can’t go with smaller (riskier) solution providers.

So they’ll throw together something that kinda works.

You can complain about it to your IT manager. Who tells you to turn it on and off again.

But in the big picture, it doesn't matter.

Neither for you, for your org or Microsoft.
